Srinagar, Feb 05: In its tough action against drug abuse, Sopore police arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband drugs from their possession.
On specific information, Sopore police laid a naka at Krankshivan, Sopore. During naka checking one person was intercepted. On search 192 tablets of Spasmoproxyvan and 09 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from his possession. He was later identified as Mohammad Altaf Malik son of Ali Mohammad Malik resident of Krankshivan.
Meanwhile another naka was laid by Sopore police at Hygam in the jurisdiction of Police Station Tarzoo. During naka checking a load carrier bearing registration number JK13C-9181 was intercepted in which two persons were traveling. On search 50 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered from their possession. They were identified as Shabir Ahmed Mir son of Fayaz Ahmad resident of Kadlabal, Pampore and Muzaffar Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Amin Bhat resident of Athwajan, Pampore.
Sopore police has registered case FIRs number 20/2016 and 21/2016 under section 8/22-29 NDPS against them and investigation was taken up.
