03 drug peddlers held in Sopore, Bandipora


Srinagar July 13: Continuing its drive against drug menace, state police have arrested three drug peddlers from Sopore and Bandipora and recovered huge quantity of prescription drugs and over one and a half Kilogram of Charas from their possession .

Sopore police headed by SHO Sopore laid a naka at Degree College Sopore. During the naka checking police apprehended a person identified as Dawood Ahmad Kaloo, resident of Chankhan, Sopore. On checking 58 bottles of Codeine Phosphate and 884 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon were recovered from his possession.

Another drug peddler identified as Zahoor Ahmed Shah, resident of Arampora, Sopore was arrested alongwith 510 grams of Charas during Naka Checking at Bus Stand, Sopore.

Sopore police has registered cases under section 8/22 NDPS and 144/15 against them in Police Station Sopore and investigation has been taken up.


Meanwhile, a police party of police station Pethkote during Naka checking intercepted a Tata Sumo bearing registration number JK01J 6568 on way from Srinagar to Gurez. During the search 01 Kilogram charas was recovered from the possession of Ghulam Rasool Dar, resident of Dawar Gurez who was travelling in the vehicle.

Pethkote Police has registered a case FIR number 22/2015 under section 8/20 NDPS act against the peddler and investigation is on.
