07 arrested for illegally serving/consuming liquor at bus stand sweetshop

Reasi, 12 May: In a curious case of illegal liquor sale and consumption inside an unlicensed shop originally meant for sweet sales, seven people have been arrested by the Reasi Police.

Acting on specific input, a Police team headed by Inspector Dalip Singh, SHO of police station Reasi, under the supervision of Sh. Mohan Lal, KPS Dy.SP Hqrs. Reasi, Sh.Sanjay Singh Rana, KPS Addl.SP Reasi and overall supervision of Sh.Sujit Kumar, IPS SSP Reasi conducted a raid on the sweet shop of one Sham Lal s/o Chhajju Ram (owner of the Sweet Shop).

Sourav Gupta & Sahil Gupta, who are the sons of Sham Lal r/o Ward No.04 in Reasi, alongwith servants namely Kaku Ram s/o Suram Singh r/o Talwara, Rakesh Singh s/o Karan Chand r/o Chaan Kanthi were caught red-handed while serving liquor to customers in sweet shop illegally.

The customers consuming liquor were identified as (1) Angrez Singh s/o Munshi Ram r/o Charalakote and (2) Shokat Ali s/o Din Mohd r/o Mari Reasi.

During the search some consumed whiskey bottles were recovered on spot. All the accused persons have been arrested and recovered items have been seized. In this connection, a case FIR No.69/2016 U/S 50/50-A Excise Act stands registered at P/S Reasi and investigation of the case is in progress.
