1 killed, 3 injured in Palhalan, Baramulla; Geelani calls for complete shutdown
Pattan: 1 died, at least 3 injured in firing in an Palhalan incident today. A youth, Farooq Ahmad Bhat, was killed and three others injured when forces alegedly opened fire at a group of youth who were protesting to demand mortal remains of Muhammad Afzal Guru in Palhalan, Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Barmullah district.
According to sources a group of youth came out in Palhalan area of a Pattan and protested against over the 2nd death anniversary of a Mohammad Afzal Guru who was hanged in Tihar jail on 9th Feb 2013. The youth were demanding for the mortal remains of Afzal Guru.
Later situation turned ugly when protesting youth started pelting stones on paramilitary forces, Later police used tear smoke shells to disperse them. According to reports police and CRPF personal used areal firing to tackle the situation.
During this ding dong battle about four persons got injured among them one Farooq Ahmad Bhat succumbed while moving towards hospital.
The situation is still tense in an area and protest are still going on.
