Actor Vicky Kaushal is all set to star in a film based on last year’s surgical strikes on the Pakistani terrorist base, reports news agency IANS. The film titled Uri will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala through his production company RSVP and it will be directed by Aditya Dhar. Speaking to IANS, Vicky Kaushal said: “When this film came to me, I was really thrilled because this is one story I feel everyone needs to know. One of the fantastic Army operations the Indian Army has conducted and with great efficiency. I also feel it is a great opportunity and also a responsibility for all of us to portray this story.” Vicky Kaushal will also take para-military training for a month and put on some kilos for the role of the commander-in-chief of the operation.
Ronnie Screwvala said that Uri is the “incredible story of Indians coming together” while Aditya added: “This is the story of what happened in those 11 days. It’s an honour and very reassuring to be backed by Ronnie Screwvala and to execute on this vision and what we believe is an engaging and thrilling story inspired by this true life incident.” Last year, a terror attack at an army base in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri killed 17 soldiers. 11 days after the attack, the Indian Army retaliated with a surgical strike.
Uri will go on floors next year and is expected to release in September 2018, around time of the second anniversary of the Uri attacks.
