Srinagar, February 11: The cash reward for killing militants in encounters has been enhanced by Jammu and Kashmir Government. In an order issued by state government about two months ago, all the most wanted militant commanders will now carry a bounty of 12.5 lakh on their head.
As per reports in a local daily, the order was made during the PDP-BJP rule when the Home Department was under then Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. The order said that the reward for most wanted militant which is listed in “A plus plus” category has been enhanced from Rs 10 lakh to 12.5 lakh. Also, the cash prize for eliminating the militants falling under A plus”, “A”, “B” and “C” category has been enhanced on the same pattern.
The categories has been made by Jammu and Kashmir Police according to how hardcore a militant is and how long he has been active in the area.
The reports also said that the police has listed a dozen of active militants in the “A plus plus” category which includes north Kashmir-based Qayoom Najar , Burhan Wani of south Kashmir, Abu Huraira and Abu Dujana of the Lashkar-e-Toiba.
The militants falling under “A plus” category carry a reward of Rs 7.5 lakh on their heads.
