12th class students fail to write 20 lines on Historical place; Edu Min pulls teachers

Jammu, December 17: Continuing his duty as a responsible minister of State Education Department, Naeem Akhtar rebuked  lecturer and teachers of Government Higher Secondary School for not performing their duties properly.

As per reports in a local daily, the minister while on routine inspection to Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Akhnoor on Wednesday asked the students of class 12th to write or recite twenty lines on the topic ‘Historic Places’ but much to his bewilderment, not even a single student present in the class was able to write or speak.

The minister scolded teachers for not attending the students properly and escaping from their duties because of which the standard of government schools in the state has fallen down. He also alleged that the teachers are incompetent and as a result the last year pass percentage of class 12th was only 27% in the Akhnoor Region.

Naeem Akhtar also pulled up the principal of the school for not performing his duties properly. He stayed in the class room for more than half an hour but the principal of the school did not show up.

While criticizing the teaching staff, the minister said, “So far, I don’t see any improvement in the pass percentage of the region.”

He added that by not performing their duties properly, these teachers are plying with the future of the students.

The minister also inspected Government Girl Higher Secondary School, Akhnoor where he gave a lecture on Self Confidence to the girl. He also advised them to take part in literary and extra co curricular activities which is necessary for complete development of  their personality.

The Minister for Education also visited Government Degree College, Akhnoor and inspected the construction of new block going on inside the college premises. He told the college authorities to start post graduation in this block.
