Her father and brother have alleged that the groom had claimed of having completed a degree in B. Pharmacy. The groom had also told that he had been abroad for a specialised course. The girl’s parents were impressed and they married their daughter to the man.

The allegation is that it was only after the marriage that Pratibha got to know that her husband had qualified 12th and never went abroad.

The relatives of the groom also believed him when he said that he works in Delhi, but it is only now that they found out that he never had a job.

The girl’s father, Trilok said that the couple got married in May 2015 and at that time Pratibha was just 24 year-old. They gave more than that they could afford in dowry. But the groom’s family always tortured Pratibha. Initially they forced her to get a car following which they used to beat her everyday. After all these incidents, Pratibha went back to her home. Later on Tuesday, her in-laws came to take her home and apologised for their mistakes. And on that very night they killed Pratibha.
