SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 07: A team of Legal Metrology Department headed by Deputy Controller Legal Metrology Kashmir under the supervision of Joint Controller Legal Metrology Kashmir with the co-operation of J&K police carried a comprehensive drive to check the fare meters of Auto rickshaws plying in district Anantnag.
During the course of inspection 45 Auto rickshaws were checked and 14 drivers found violating the rules and regulations were booked for charging flat rate/plying auto rickshaws without installation of fare meters. A fine of Rs 5500 was realized from the erring drivers.
Auto rickshaw drivers were directed to install fare meters in their vehicles and comply with the rules and regulations of the Act. The Department will continue to carry out regular inspections to ensure consumer protection and welfare.
