2 dead as car falls into 200 feet deep gorge in Ramban


Ramban:A car fell uncontrolled 200 feet deep near Hocha Kanthi on Link Road, 15 km from the district headquarters, at around 9 pm on Thursday. Two people, including the driver, died on the spot in the accident.

Nearby people reached the spot and started the rescue work after informing the police. The children of the car had flown and the bodies were lying in the ditch. Late night attempts were being made to bring dead bodies on the road.

According to the information, Surjit Singh (43), resident of Kanthi Ramban and Taneshwar Singh (23), resident of Kumekh Rajgarh, were going from Kanthi towards Garhi by car. It was raining lightly.

Meanwhile, the car went uncontrolled near Hotha Kanthi on Link Road. The car fell into a ditch two hundred feet deep. Local people reached the spot on the information of the accident. People informed the police. Both bodies were lying in the abyss.

Members of the Ramban police and local civil QRT attempted to retrieve the bodies, but could not succeed. By the time the news was written late at night, there was a struggle to remove the dead bodies of both.

Ramban police say that both have been identified. The road was wet due to rain. It is speculated that the car fell into the ditch below being skated. The dead bodies will be taken down and sent for post-mortem. Family members are being informed.
