Cloudburst hits Amarnath Yatra’s base camp in South Kashmir; Two killed, nine injured


Reportedly two minors have been reported killed and nine injured after a cloudburst near the base camp of Amarnath Yatra in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. Army has launched a Massive Rescue Mission to save the yatris trapped in the landslides.

Landslide was triggered at Baltal & Rangamor and 19 Gharwal unit has commenced the search of the area.

Cloud burst at Baltal resulted into two deaths Pooja (age13) D/0 Prakash, R/0 Rajasthan and Vikram (age12) S/0 Kailash, R/0 Rajasthan. Nine persons have been reported injured, 12 shops have been washed away, 780 persons shifted to Army camp and 1500
Yatries shifted to Bhandras.

Lt Gen Subrata Saha, Chinar Corps Commander along with chief Engineer rushed to Baltal to review the situation.
