Rajouri, July 7: Reports across sections of media in Jammu and Kashmir have mentioned the death of two youths which resulted from an alleged drug overdose. It has also been widely reported in unconfirmed reports that another youth (nicknamed Chhotu) was rushed to a Jammu hospital by his parents in drug overdose.
The youth have been identified as one Liakat Ali of Kakora village in Manjakot tehsil and the other as Mohammad Shafiq of Chandimarh in Poonch district. Both were living at Ward 2 in Rajouri.

It has come to notice through official reports that both the youths were active drug peddlers since last many years. Mohammad Shafiq had infact been arrested by the Rajouri police in 2015 and booked in a case under the NDPS Act.
SSP Rajouri said, “On the night of Tuesday, two youths died and after the legal formalities, a post-mortem was conducted yesterday. The results of the post-mortem would determine whether the duo died due to drug overdose. ”
The SSP informed that investigation into the matter has begun under Section 174 of the CrPC and two persons from the area have been picked up for interrogation.

The SSP also confirmed that the deceased were drug addicts and had been drug peddlers. However, the SSP refrained from giving out any information about the third youth taken to a hospital at Jammu.
According to local sources, five youth were gambling and took drugs in a room in ward 2 (reportedly confessed by Chhotu who has been taken to Jammu for treatment).
The deceased duo and Chhotu developed complications and were taken to District Hospital. Shafiq died on the way, while Liakat died at the hospital.
