Srinagar: General Officer Commanding (GoC) 15 Corps Gen Subrata Saha Tuesday said that militancy in Kashmir has increased and presently there are 200 militants active.
“Militancy has increased in the valley,” Gen Saha said after a function organized to distribute equipments among especially disabled people at Srinagar.
When asked about the number of militants, he said, “Presently 200 militants are active in the valley.”
Commenting about the yesterday’s incident at Shopian, Gen Saha termed it “unfortunate” and said, “Our condolences are with bereaved families.”
Saha also said that army will evolve extra security plans to stop such incidents in future, he also added that “we should take arms with us during a normal functioning”.
Commenting about the AFSAPA revocation demands Gen Saha said, “We will share our opinion with centre and state on the removal of AFSPA.”
