2015 in Retrospection: 11 times Jammu- Kashmir went star-struck in its own home

They are fashion icons, the life of parties and loved by everyone. The celebrities give us reason to dream. Who doesn’t love to have a glimpse of them? With 2016 just a few hours away, we have for you some assorted moments when these celebrities have spotted in state for one reason or other and made out eyeballs pop.
#1 Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapoor for ‘Fitoor’: The duo shot for their upcoming movie Fitoor in Feburary which became the first bollywood film shot in Kashmir after floods. They were accompained by Director Abhishek Kapoor, veteran actor Rekha. The shoot locations for the Srinagar schedule included the famous Nishat Garden on the banks of the Dal Lake.
#2 Salman and Kareena shoot for ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’: The biggest names of Bollywood, Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor were seen in the valley in May this year for shooting ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’. While Kareena was there for just a short period of time, Sallu Bhai spent long 40-days in Kashmir. He was mesmerized by the scenic locales and mountains and children of Kashmir which can be proved by the series of tweets he posted during his visit praising the beauty of Kashmir. One of it said “Kashmir nahi dekha toh Kya dekha kehtey hai kahin jannat hai toh woh idharich hai idharich hai idharich hai.”
He thoroughly loved the experience. Not just him but also his family was seen visiting Kashmir during his schedule.
#3 Raj Babbar for his political duty: Senior central Congress leader and veteran actor Raj Babbar also visited Jammu in May. Here he addressed a press conference at PCC Headquarters, Shaheedi Chowk during ongoing AIIMS controversy. But also, he recalled his fond memories of shooting his films in Kashmir and said Bollywood filmmakers should visit the picturesque Valley once again.
#4 Preity Zinta visited Shri Mata Vaishno Devi: This bollywood beauty was spotted in Katra town in October while on her way to perform darshan of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.
#5 Lauren Gottlieb-Jackky Bhagnani promoted ‘Welcome to Karachi’ in Srinagar: The duo visited Srinagar city in May to promote their movie named Welcome to Karachi. Both had some gala time talking to the press and meeting school children in Kashmir.
#6 Manish Paul flagged off ‘Big Jammu Run’: TV’s highest paid actor and anchor Manish Paul was seen flagging off ‘Big Jammu Run’, a 5 km long marathon organised by a private radio channel at Gulshan Ground in June. He was accompanied by Birbal from Big Magic’s hit TV show ‘Har Mushkil ka Hal Akbar Birbal’ Vishal Kotian.
#7 Suresh Raina honeymooned in Srinagar: In July, Indian Middle order batsman Suresh Raina was seen chilling in Kashmir with his better-half Priyanka Chaudhary. The batsman was seen hoolahooping and enjoying his jaunt in Kashmir valley.
#8 The Great Khali at the closing ceremony of the Jammu District Wrestling Championship: In November, Presence of ‘The Great Khali’ at the closing ceremony of the Jammu District Wrestling Championship held in Bajrangi Akhara became a glorious moment for the wrestlers of the state who got this rare opportunity to meet the internationally renowned World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) wrestler. The great Indian wrestler stayed in Jammu for a day and also paid obeisance at the Vaishno Devi shrine.
#9 Raza Murad’s Press Conference: He visited Jammu early this month. During a press conference, he said, “Jammu and Kashmir has a scenic beauty and I feel that the film industry rather than going abroad in countries like Switzerland and Australia, should visit Kashmir—which is the only Heaven on Earth for the shoots.
#10 Anupam Kher batted for Kashmiri Pandits: Veteran Bollywood Actor Anupam Kher who is also Kashmiri Pandit visited Jammu last week only. He met Kashmiri migrants at the Jagti Township. He called it a emotional experience. “Every Kashmiri Pandit I hugged had a tragedy to share,” he wrote on Twitter. He also tweeted a photo of having lunch at a refugee home of a Kashmiri Pandit family.
Anupam spent good two days in Jammu. He prayed at Raghunath Temple and inaugurated the Literary festival ‘TawiKinare’ of Jammu.
#11 Bohemia, Gurdas Man shared stage during an event in Jammu: The last Sunday of the year became super fun for Jammuites when Rap star Boehmia and renowned Punjabi Singer Gurdas Man came together on a stage during the inaugural event for Matsogi-Do Championship at MA Stadium. They both along with Punjabi star anchors like Gurpreet Guggi and Satinder Satti and singer Sukhi Singh set the stage on fire and made the ending of the year 2015, most memorable for Jammu.
