Srinagar, December 03: A compensation of Rs 38 44564 was granted to a woman on Thursday by Motor Accident Claims Tribunal. The compensation was provided following an accident which took place in 2010 because of which this woman suffered ‘permanent disability’.
As mentioned in a report by a local daily, the tribunal has directed the Regional Manager Shri Ram General Insurance Company Ltd to deposit the awarded amount into the account of the victim within a period of thirty days along with simple interest at the rate of 6% per annum from the 9 December 2010 (when petition was filed) till the final liquidation.
The petition for compensation by Tabasum Ahmad Kathwari was disposed of by the Courts as the lady was able to prove her entitlement to the award. Calling it a success, the tribunal held that the woman has proved her entitlement for compensation of Rs.38, 44,654. The presiding officer, Muhammad Yousuf Wani also held that uncontrolled flow of traffic for accidents and asked government to come up with policy for management and regulation of traffic movement in the state.
