Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Centre at Rangreth, Srinagar today resonated with the spirited rendition of the inspirational Regimental song ‘Balidanam Veer Lakshnam’ by 242 young soldiers of the state who transformed from the recruits of JAK LI Regiment to the young soldiers of the Nation.
That this reverberation would soon find echo in numerous acts of selfless courage and compassion in various parts of the country and even abroad as these soldiers join their respective units, was left in no doubt as these immaculately dressed smart, proud soldiers pledged themselves to the service of the nation in a solemn oath ceremony which also stood testimony to the secular credentials of the Regiment.
After a strenuous training regimen of eleven months, the latest batch of recruits of 103 Course Serial, today put up an impressive display of Passing out Parade.
Lt Gen Satish Dua, Chinar Corps Commander who recently assumed the reins of the Regiment also as its 15th Colonel of the Regiment reviewed the Parade. As the dauntless soldiers hailing from different regions of the J&K State marched in unison with their heads held high and haughty strides, it was re-assuring to the over 3000 spectators that included proud parents and relatives of the soldiers, veterans and other guests from the Civil Administration and Security Forces that national security was in capable hands. Their ceremonial ardour and palpable passion for the Tri Colour inspired patriotic fervor in all present.
Lt Gen Satish Dua, in his address complimented the young soldiers for the high standard of Parade and impressed upon unflinching service to the nation. He also praised their contribution in encouraging more youth from J&K to come forward to join Security Forces and even highlighted the vital role played by their parents in motivating their children and wards to join this noble profession.
During the investiture ceremony, Lt General Satish Dua also presented awards to the meritorious recruits who excelled in various facets of training. Recruit Rajiv Sharma was awarded the ‘Shere-e-Kashmir Sword of Honour’ for being adjudged ‘Overall Best Recruit’.
At the end, proud parents and relatives pipped the soldiers making them ready to join their battalions and to tread the immortal path of glory, living up to the expectations and the best traditions of the Army. As a mark of respect, gratitude & recognition of contribution made by the parents of these young soldiers.
