27 militants neutralised in first three months of 2016

Srinagar March 31: This year has seen the termination of 27 militants in various operations and attacks whereas 5 civilians and 7 personnel of the defence forces have lost their lives to militancy in Jammu and Kashmir.

In the first month, seven militants were neutralised whereas one civilian also became a victim of the violence. February saw even more bloodshed where 13 militants were killed but at the same time, 5 soldiers of the army, 2 belonging to CRPF alongwith 3 civilians also lost their lives.

March saw the elimination of 8 terrorists and the death of one civilian in terrorism related violence.

During this time, of the 27 militants killed, 9 were foreign militants whereas 18 were locals. There were a total of 5 grenade attacks on defence encampments at Mominabad in Anantnag, Arwani Bijbehara, Hafiz Bagh in Soura, Pulwama and outside police station Bijbehara.

Apart from these two porters were injured in the mine blast in the Keran sector.
