28-year-old man who raped his 8-month-old cousin wanted to adopt her – Shocking details
Two days after an eight-month-old girl was raped by her 28-year-old cousin in northwest Delhi’s Shakurpur on Sunday, a report on Tuesday said the accused wanted to adopt the little girl. Talking to a daily, the girl’s father said that the accused had approached him when the girl was born and asked him to give her to him.
“We almost lost our daughter to a man who always pretended to take care of her like his own daughter,” the girl’s father told The Times Of India, adding that his nephew had a habit of teasing women. “Who knew that he would end up doing this to his own sister, that too someone who is not even a year old!” he added.
The victim’s father further said that his family celebrated the elder daughter’s birthday on Friday and the accused extended full support in the preparations. “When my daughter was born, he asked me to give her to him as he had lost his daughter two years ago. My refusal must have rankled him,” he wondered.
The accused was out of the job for days, hence the girl’s parents left their daughter in his custody while going to work. When the mother returned home, she found the accused running out of the room and his shirt had blood stains. What she saw in the room jolted her completely. The apple of her eye was lying unconscious in a pool of blood.
The girl was immediately taken to a hospital and police were informed about the incident. She underwent a three-hour-long surgery to repair the tears in her private parts at the city’s Kalawati Saran Children’s Hospital. According to a doctor, the surgery was performed on Tuesday morning and the patient is currently in ICU and out of danger.
“During the investigation, Suraj turned out to be the prime suspect. After he was grilled, he fled the home. This confirmed their suspicion of his involvement in the crime. He was later traced and arrested,” a senior police officer said. The baby suffered severe injuries to her vital organs.
“Suraj has confessed to his crime. The family used to leave the baby at home with cousins and other family members while going for work. A case has been registered against Suraj under the provisions of POSCO,” the officer added.
