Kishtwar, May 24: The promises made by the Education Minister to improve the standard of education throughout the state do not seem to be materialising on ground at all.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Chatroo, Qazi Masood Ahmed conducted a tour of various far flung areas of his region and inspected schools, health centres, anganwari centres, CAPD stores and other govt offices.
The inspection of schools was difficult to bear with for the SDM as he got disappointing answers to basic questions from the students of class two and three.
Shockingly, students of classes 2nd and 3rd were unable to read and spell the words ‘cat’ and ‘elephant’. He warned the teachers concerned to bring the matter to the notice of higher authorities in case they did not improve the reading skills of students, official sources said.
In a local Durbar, the locals apprised the SDM of different issues, particularly poor educational system, NAFSA, land acquisition and water crisis.
The SDM has directed the teachers and government officers in different underperforming offices to either start performing or face consequences.
