3.5 quintal ‘bhukki’ hidden in apple boxes recovered in Awantipora: Police

SRINAGAR: Police in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday claimed to have recovered 3.5 quintals of fukki from apple boxes being transported in a lorry in southern Pulwama district.

A police official said that five persons onboard the lorry were arrested and 3.54 quintals hidden in 44 apple boxes was recovered from them in Awantipora.

A case, vide FIR number 197 of 2016 under sections 15/18 NDPS Act, has been registered in Police Station Awantipora.

The accused have been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat, Junaid Ahmad Bhat and Tabik Ahmad Bhat – all residents of Charsoo.

The official said that all three of them were “notorious” stone-pelters.

Two more accused were identified as Rayees Ahmad Dar of Larmoo Awantipora and Ajaz Ahmad Kuchay of Hajibal Kakapora.
