3-day Science Awareness Mela 2014 inaugurated


SRINAGAR : 3-day Science Awareness Mela-2014, sponsored by National Council for Science and Technology Communication was organized by J&K Students Welfare Society, Anantnag in collaboration with Khalsa High School, Srinagar here today.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Shah was the chief guest, while Director Metrology, Mr. Sonam Lotus was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner stressed for developing scientific temper among budding students. He said students of Valley have vast talent and have proved it at national as well as at Global level competitions.DC Srinagar April 11
Appreciating the organizers for holding such events, Mr. Shah said that such events are pivotal for providing platform to the budding students to exhibit their talent.
Mr. Sonam Lotus also spoke on the occasion and said encouragement of students besides strengthening of self confidence among students is must for yielding best results.
As many as students of 15 educational institutions are participating Science Awareness Mela which will continue for 3 days from April 11 to April 13, 2014 and will witness various events including Science Model Exhibition, Essay and Painting competitions, Science Drama Festival and Scientific explaining besides workshops will be held on water resources of J&K, water testing, soil testing and weather prediction.
Among others, Principal, students and members of Management Committee of Khalsa High School and participant students were present on the inaugural function.
Later, Deputy Commissioner visited Science Model Exhibition where students demonstrated their models.
