Jammu, September 04: Crimes against Women have continued to make headlines in the state for quite a long time. The vast quantum of data that is available about crimes against women is an indicator in itself about the gravity of these crimes.
In the year 2014, 332 cases of rape with women were registered which is slightly less than that of the year 2013 when 378 rape cases were registered. However, the record says that in 2012, there were 303 rape cases.
Out of 332 cases of rape which have been registered last year, 204 cases fall in age group between 18 and 30 while 14 rape cases of girls are in the age group of 6-12 and between 12 to 18 there were 23 cases. Not just this but a total of 86 raped women fall in the age group of 30 to 45.
As per the government data, out of 332 cases of rape registered in the year 2014, 92 percent of victims were either raped by their relatives, neighbours or the people they knew somehow.
Also the report says that there were 20 registered complaints of rape attempt in 2014.
