JAMMU, Sept 11: In a new development across twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, 37 new launch pads, atleast, have been activated by the militant outfits – Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM). This is the latest in the efforts to push trained militants inside the Indian territory before start of the November, which generally marks winters in the upper hills.
According to a Daily Excelsior report, clear movement of militants at various locations adjacent to the LoC has been observed over the past few days and this has provided fuel to speculations about infiltration attempts in the coming days.
Troops have strengthened Anti-Infiltration Grid in Rajouri and Poonch and parts of Akhnoor in Jammu, the only three districts of Jammu region, which share LoC with Pakistan. Entire LoC is manned by the Army.
The troops on Indian side were already maintaining high alert and were well aware of the enemy plan to push trained militants, equipped with arms, ammunition and explosives into the Indian side.
Official sources have provided inputs on the number of the militants camping at these launching pads could well be between 50 to 70.
Sources have also said that all these militants under training seem to be Pakistanis as Pakistani militant outfits were now facing dearth of Kashmiri militants even as the organizations involved are LeT and HM.
