42 defaulters booked, two quintals of unwholesome food destroyed on spot by JMC

SONY DSCIn the ongoing drive against the menace of adulteration in the commonly used food items especially on the eve of Mahashivratri. The Health Officer, Dr. Mohd. Saleem Khan and Municipal Veterinary Officer along with Food Safety Officers & other field staff on the direction of worthy Commissioner JMC Sh. Kiran Wattal conducted a tour today on 25/02/2014 in the areas like New Plot, Janipur, Roop Nagar, Durga Nagar, Bantalab, Muthi, Talab Tillo, Bohri, Mahesh Pura, Bakshi Nagar Paloura,Canal Road etc. A number of food establishments including Sweet Shops, Meat Shops, Fish shops, Provisional Stores, Bakery Shops, Food Stalls and moving Vendors were Checked. A compounding fee of Rs. 25,020 was also realized from 42 defaulters under Municipal Corporation Act 2000 during the tour. About 30 quintals of milk was checked & two quintals of unwholesome food was found under unhygienic conditions was also destroyed on spot.Besides this 23 Kgs of polythene carry bags were also seized and general public also made aware about the harmful effect of using polythene carry bagsMoreover 04 people were booked under COPT (smoking at public place) Act and fine Rs. 400/- also realized from them.The drive will remain continue in future and shopkeepers dealing with food items are strictly warned and directed to ensure supply of good quality of food to the general public and asked to keep their premises neat and clean failing which action under law will be initiated against them.
