Five Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police have been arrested in connection with an incident where one of the three accused in a narcotics case tried to escape. The deceased was among three persons who were picked up by the police in connection with a narcotics case and was shot dead after he allegedly tried to escape.
As per the police officials, the SOG team had arrested three accused, Tarsem Lal, son of Shamsher Bhagat, Kamal Sharma, son of Rajinder Sharma and Irfaan, son of Majid Ahmed Kohli, all residents of Chinore on the outskirts of Jammu city.
When the three reached near the Police Station at Domana, Tarsem Lal tried to give the slip to police by getting off the vehicle and was shot by the Police. He was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu where the doctors pronounced him as brought dead. An eyewitness said that he was at home along with his children when a bullet being fired was heard outside his house. “When I came out, I saw three policemen dragging a young boy’s body, which was in a pool of blood,” he added.
However, the police move was questioned by the local residents as they complained how can they open reckless fire in a civilian fire and the police is still keeping mum. The senior police officers have refused to share full information about the incident, despite condemning the brutal killing of the youth. The act was condemned even by Ashkoor Wani, DIG, Jammu Kathua range but he assured whomsoever is guilty, strict action will follow.
