6 Things You Must Know Before Applying For CDS Exam!

  1. What is CDS ?

It’s a Combined Defence Devices written test conducted by UPSC two times every year one in month of October and second in month of February . CDS written exam has three different tests namely English, General Knowledge and Mathematics.

  1. Age Limit for CDS Exam

Indian Military Academy         :   19-24 years
Air Force Academy                   :   19-24 years
Naval Academy                         :   19-22 years
Officers’ Training Academy  :   19-27 years

  1. Educational Qualification for CDS Exam

IMA : The aspirants should possess graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institute.

OTA: The aspirants should possess graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institute.

INA: The aspirants must have a degree in Engineering.

 Air Force Academy: The aspirants should have passed 12th standard with Physics and Mathematics and having a degree from a recognized university or bachelor’s degree in engineering / technology.

  1. Can Women too apply for CDS?

Girls are only elifible for OTA. Also married and widow women can apply for OTA.

5.      What is the CDS Exam Pattern

This paper is designed for checking your knowledge in English Grammar and vocabulary as well as other necessary aspects. This paper is of 100 marks, contains 120 question and the duration of this paper is 2 hours.

General Knowledge:
This paper is of 100 marks and its duration is 2 hours. This paper contains question related to geography of India and world, civics and polity of India, which includes constitution acts and governance.

Elementary Mathematics:
Elementary mathematics includes various fields. The applicants need to be well in calculations and giving quick answers to pass this paper. This paper contains 100 questions and is of 100 marks and time duration is 2 hours.

Candidates who are applying for OTA have to appear only in English and G.K

  1. What is the Selection Procedure for CDS Exam Entry

CDS Exam Selection Procedure consists of Four stages:

  1. Written Examination
  2. Personality Test/ Personal Interview
  3. Verification of the candidates
  4. Medical Examination of the selected candidates
