Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza on Monday visited several areas of the district to inspect snow clearance operation.
The DDC visited Watapora, Qazipora, Kaloosa, Main Market Bandipora, Plan Bandipora, Jamia Masjid (Jadeed), Nussu, Bus stand and Bagh Bandipora and inspected the snow clearance operations.
En-route, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the people to get first hand account of the problems being faced by them.
He said that 20 snow clearance machines have been deployed in the district to clear the roads which include nine machines of Mechanical Division, three machines of R&B department and four machines of Municipal Committees Sumbal and Bandipora.
The DDC Bandipora said that till Monday afternoon 60 percent of the roads have been cleared of snow prioritizing major district roads and roads leading to Hospitals and other essential services. He said the machines are continuously clearing the roads as the snowfall continued till Monday evening.
He further said that power restoration work is apace in the district and 16 feeders have been restored including five feeders of Kaloosa Sub Division, one feeder of Bandipora Sub-Division and 10 feeders of Sumbal Sub Division.
The DDC was informed that there is sufficient stocks of essential commodities available in the district including LPG, ration, vegetables and other essentials.
