Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted his greetings to the people of Pakistan today saying, “On the occasion of their Independence Day, I convey my greetings to the people of Pakistan.” Tommorrow, he will unfurl the National Flag from the ramparts of the Red Fort on August 15, 2014 to celebrate the 68th Independence Day of India.
According to a release, the National Flag Guard comprising 32 men and one officer each from Army, Navy, Air Force and Delhi Police will present Rashtriya Salute at the time of unfurling of the National Flag by the Prime Minister.
Some other highlights of the event at the Red Fort will be as follows
~Playing of the Army Band will when the National Guard presents ‘Rashritya Salute’ while unfurling the National Flag by the Prime Minister with all Service personnel in uniform standing and saluting the flag.
~The Prime Minister’s address to the nation.
~Singing of the National Anthem by school children and NCC Cadets.
The release adds that seven hundred cadets of the National Cadet Corps from the Delhi Directorate comprising Army, Navy and Air Force wings are participating in the flag hoisting ceremony this year.
It is also said that, the cadets will take part in the singing of patriotic songs along with the school children. Three thousand five hundred girl students from 42 government schools of northern, eastern, central and north-eastern zones of Directorate of Education, Government of Delhi will sing the National Anthem. They will also sing patriotic songs in different regional languages during the celebrations.
