8 teachers suspended in Kulgam

Eight government school teachers were suspended on Tuesday in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district for not attending a training program organised by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) under SSA flagship scheme, officials told Greater Kashmir.

The suspension orders were issued by Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kulgam Rouf Ahmad Shahmari. “They (teachers) were suspended for not registering their presence in the teacher’s training program which commenced from today in the district,” Shahmari said.

He said the training program will be conducted in different phases for three months. “The first phase of training will continue for six days and will be followed by second phase with a break of a few days. Later, the department will start third phase of training as well,” he said.

“The teachers were suspended for their lackadaisical attitude,” he added.Every year the school education department conducts teacher training program during winter months. The training program officials said, “It is held to upgrade skills of the in-service teachers of the school education department.”
