Member of parliament attacked by protestors in Kulgam district; vehicle set on fire
Kulgam: A member parliament was Saturday attacked by protestors in Kulgam district of south Kashmir witnesses said
Nazir Ahmad Laway, a PDP leader and Rajya Sabha MP from south Kashmir, was roughed up and one of the vehicles in his cavalcade was torched by the protesters in Bugam area of the district, they added.
They said Laway had arrived to take part in an official function being organized in a higher secondary school in the village when the residents attacked him.
“We had warned the school authorities against hosting any pro-India politician before but they chose to ignore us and went ahead with organising the function,” said a local on the condition of anonymity.
Later police chased the protestors by using tear smokes shells. Till filing this report the situation is still tense in an area.
