Aashura-A day of remembrance  observed across Jammu

Shia Muslims observed Aashura today with prayers and self-flagellation across Jammu.  Aashura which is observed on the 10th day of the month of Muharram is also known as the ‘Day of Remembrance’

The mourners were seen reciting Nohas and Marsiah during the procession where Many Shia Muslims practiced chest beating .



while there were some who whipped  their bodies with chains and  cut their foreheads with knives.

After passing through the traditional route of Lakdatta Bazaar, Rajindra Bazaar, Shaheedi Chowk and Wazarat Road, the crowd congregated at Karbala Complex where Sham-e-Ghariban was delivered by Moulana Syed Mohammad.



A procession was also taken out from New Plot also. The mourners involved in the procession joined the main procession at Imam Bargah Sofi Shah Peer Mitha.



In the end, Muharram ended with dua(prayer) for peace, harmony and brotherhood in the country and state.
