SRINAGAR, June 12:The manhunt launched against the militants who carried out twin attacks in Anantnag district killing 5 security men last week is on and security forces have arrested eight persons so far and rounded up over a dozen persons for questioning.
The manhunt was launched soon after the attack on Police in Anantnag town last week in which two police men including an officer was killed. The attack was carried out by the militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba who were caught on a camera while carrying out the attack.
Police have already circulated posters of the two LeT militants in Anantnag district. These militants have been identified as Junaid Ahmad Mattoo son of Manzoor Ahmad Mattoo resident of Khudwani in Kulgam district and another militant as Ali, a foreigner.
Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two youth including brother of a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant allegedly involved in the attack. One of the detained youths, Waseem Ahmad Lone, is the brother of Junaid Lone, the LeT militant hailing from Khudwani.
Security forces are also looking for three Jaish-e-Mohammad militants who they believe are hiding somewhere in Srinagar city after their commander and his associate were killed last month in Mahraj Bazar area of city.
