ADC Kupwara takes stock of winter preparedness arrangements


Kupwara: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara, Farooq Ahmed Baba convened a meeting to review winter preparedness arrangements in the district here today.

The Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Bashir Ahmed Bhat, the officers of the concerned departments including, PDD, PHE, R&B, MC, and Disaster management attended the meeting.

The ADC directed the officers to gear up field functionaries and keep all the requisite machinery equipment available in the state of readiness to meet any eventuality during winters.

The ADC also asked the officers to play proactive role especially during winter months keeping in view hilly topography of the district and ensure that general public do not face any inconvenience in the district.

It was given out in the meeting that, 11 snow clearance machines including 5 snow ploughs have been kept available in the state of readiness by Mechanical Engineering Division. Besides, the department is keeping snow clearance control room functional round the clock from November 15 at Bunhama, Kupwara.

The meeting was informed that a Joint Control Room is already functioning in the district which is manned by Nodal Officers of all the departments including Disaster Management. The general public can contact the Joint Control Room at Telephone No. 01955-253522.

The ADC also reviewed the stock and supply position of food and other essentials and was informed that 51,900 quintal Rice, 7,100 quintal Atta, 48,000 liter kerosene oil and 12,450 L P G Cylinders have been dumped in border areas of the district including Karnal, Machilll, Jumgund, Kumkadi and Budnambal.

The ADC directed the officers to expedite the dumping process of the remaining stock in these areas and ensure the sufficient stocking of the essential for the winter months.
