ADC submits report to District Magistrate regarding NIT unrest

Srinagar, April 23: The one-man committee headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Nazir Ahmad Baba to conduct an inquiry into the National Institute of Technology (NIT) unrest has submitted its report to Srinagar District Magistrate yesterday

He said that he have submitted the report to District Magistrate after recording the statement of many students and other persons who were witness to the incident.

On April 7 the One-man probe committee was set up by the government to enquire the incident that took place in the Campus of NIT on 31 March.

Outstation students of the NIT had rejected the probe committee set up by the state government and had demanded that the incident be probed by an independent committee from outside.

A new probe committee with two external members has been constitued by the institute which would submit its reportby May 15.

After several meetings with HRD officials the Non-Local students have dropped the demand for shifting the institute from the Valley to Jammu.

The students stood firm on their demand of hoisting Tricolour at the campus, for which the institute administration has taken no step so far.
