After balloons, apples with anti-India message surface

CHANDIGARH: After balloons in Punjab and Rajasthan carrying hate messages allegedly from Pakistan, apples from Kashmir with anti-India messages scribbled on them have found way to Sirsa. The incident came to light on Thursday when Prayag, a resident of Sirsa, opened a box containing apples bought from a vendor Rajinder Singh from outside the local fruit market.’Indian dogs go back, we are freedom fighters, we want freedom’ was found scribbled in English with black ink.

Prayag informed the police and Sirsa station house officer (SHO) rushed to the wholesale fruit and vegetable market besides the retail market.Sirsa SHO Gurdial Singh said investigations were in progress to ascertain the source of the apple consignments. “During investigations we have found that Rajinder had bought the apple boxes from one Raju Arora, a trader who procures apples from seven places. This is confirmed that the apples have been directly procured from Kashmir growers or traders.

\We are yet to reach out to the actual supplier or receiver,” he said.He said police were verifying the facts. “We cannot take it lightly even if it is a prank as we have not heard of any other such incident,” said the SHO.
