After falling out for 3 months PDP, BJP behave as long lost brothers, seek joint meeting with Guv
After playing the battle of wits with each other for almost three months the BJP and PDP are now coming together like long lost brother. And in the latest such move, both the parties have decided to jointly meet the state governor NN Vohra to stake the claim for government formation.
Earlier in the day, BJP unanimously extended support to PDP and also Mehbooba Mufti as CM candidate. The saffron party chose former Dy CM Nirmal Singh as the legislative party leader and he will be the candidate for the post in the new dispensation.
BJP national general secretary Ram Madhave said that both parties will approach the Governor together to stake claim for formation of government very soon.
State party chief Sat Sharma said that they have decided to form the coalition with PDP, and will support Mehbooba’s candidature for the post of CM. BJP met today after PDP elected Mehbooba as legislative party leader, and gave clear indication of joining the coalition.
Madhav also said the party had not sought time from the Governor and it will hold a meeting with PDP, and jointly seek time to lay the claim for government formation.
Meanwhile, union minister Jitendra Singh also tried to clear the and said there was never a breakdown between two parties. Both the parties are expected sit together and work out the formation of the new cabinet. Both PDP, and BJP decided to defer their meeting with the state governor and are expected to seek a joint meeting.
The distribution of portfolios is likely to be finalized later.
