After Sajjad, now a former minister from BJP quota decides to sit in Opposition

Jammu and kashmir

Jammu, April 6: Former Minister of State for Finance Pawan Gupta has accused the BJP of misrepresenting the Truth. He said on Monday that henceforth he would play the role of constructive opposition in the Assembly.

He said his support to the party would be issue-based and said he will work for issues which are people-oriented and oppose decisions taken against the interests of people of Jammu.

Gupta, who was elected as an Independent MLA from Udhampur, was Minister of State for Finance in the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed government.

He was a part of the government from the BJP quota as the party had made him associate member. Annoyed over not being included in the council of ministers in the new PDP-BJP government that took oath on Monday, Gupta blamed the BJP for its tactical move to keep him out.

He said he had started getting indications of removal soon after Mufti’s death. “It had been an enigma to me that soon after the Chief Minister died, I was neither invited to any BJP meet nor called to attend any party function,” he said.

Gupta blamed the BJP for keeping him in the dark over developments within the party, wherein his name was ‘deliberately’ struck off.

Gupta stated that If the BJP did not want his  services as Minister of State in the new Government, it could have informed him gracefully and he would have accepted that.
