One of the most sought after questions in Indian cinema is obviously ‘why did Katappa kill Baahubali?’. Ahead of the release of the much-anticipated sequel Baahubali: The Conclusion, actor Sathyaraj, who plays the eponymous character Katappa in the film, has made an interesting revelation.
The Amaidhi Padai actor, in an interview to Anupama Chopra’s Film Companion, decided to mince words on the best kept secret. Much like his director, Sathyaraj said, “Because my director told me to.”
After the stupendous success of Baahubali, one question that has been following the team like a shadow is the reason behind Baahubali’s death. However, Sathyaraj says it doesn’t annoy him.
He said, “Everyone in the world is asking me the same thing. I don’t even get irritated by that question. I have not even told my family about it. I have been in the industry for over 40 years. It is not ethical to reveal climax or the crucial part of the story. I knew the character would become famous but had no idea that it would gain so much popularity across the nation. Even memes were being made on the different situations. Like when demonetisation happened, there were memes on my character. I feel happy about it.”
Interestingly, SS Rajamouli, in an interview to a vernacular channel said that the war scene between Baahubali and Bhallala Deva is the highlight of the film.
The Eega director also assured that the theatrical trailer of the film will be out by mid-March. Baahubali: The Beginning, which hit the screens in 2015, was highly successful and grossed Rs 600 crore worldwide.
Speaking at the India Today Conclave South 2017, SS Rajamouli revealed that Baahubali 2 would be bigger and better than Baahubali.
