JAMMU: Chairman of AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC) and President of JKHCBA, Jammu, Abhinav Sharma has appealed the locals to come forward in huge numbers and support the three-day complete ‘Jammu bandh’ call from July 31 to August 2. The Bandh call has come after its chain hunger strike which entered its eighth day today with 60 persons taking their turns to sit for the protest. This will be the third Bandh Call over the AIIMS issue since April this year. Now the committee seeks BJP to deliver the commitment of AIIMS which they made to the people of Jammu or warns of the worse.
Earlier, ACC held a Lalkaar Rally to bring to the notice of BJP, particularly State Party Head Nirmal SIngh and BJP MLAs Rajesh Gupta, Sat Sharma and Ravinder Raina that the cause hasn’t been forgotten and to ensure that Deputy CM fulfills the promises he has made to the people of Jammu. ÄCC had earlier suspended the ongoing hunger strike on June 18 when BJP promised that they would work with the ACC and fight for AIIMS for Jammu in case an appropriate order on the demand was not issued latest by July 20 following a written assurance by deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh and his cabinet colleagues. No “appropriate order” to establish the centre in Jammu hasbeen recieved till date.
ACC comprises of 70 civil society groups spearheading the agitation with members from the Jammu Bar Association and also from the Jammu Gurudwara Committee supporting the Cause.
