All in their 20s, Gurez Army martyrs gave befitting reply to Pak infiltrators

In an early morning ambush, four armymen including a major rank official were killed at Govind Nallah in Gurez sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Gurez is situated in Bandipora of North Kashmir.

The four armymen killed during the attack has been identified as 29-year-old Major Kaustubh Prakash Kumar Rane, a native from Maharashtra’s Thane; rifleman Mandeep Singh Rawat, 26, from Uttarakhand’s Shivpur village in Kotdwar district; riflemen Hameer Singh, 28, from Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi town and gunner Vikram Jeet Singh, 25, from Haryana’s Ambala.

According to initial reports, the securitymen foiled an infiltration bid by terrorists ahead of Independence Day. In the resulting gunfire, 4 armymen lost their lives.
