Jammu, June 27: Speaker J&K legislative Assembly and MLA Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta on Saturday said that the initiative for construction of two tunnels on the Leh highway and other one in Banihal will benefit the country on the whole and these areas in particular.
Pressing for the need to promote the various industries in these areas, it has become very important to supervise the completion of these road projects and ensure their timely completion, he said.
Quoting the increase in unemployment, he said that when these roads will become all weather, not only the trade & Commerce but other prospects for generating the employment opportunities will become feasible as well. This is not only going to help these particular areas but will be beneficial for the whole State.
Referring to various industries in J&K such as Silk Textile, Carpet – Making, Forest, Agro, Paper Mache and Cement industry, he said most of the major roads in our state remains closed for nearly seven months which really hampers the overall development of these industries and becomes a hurdle in the creation of employment and increasing the revenue of the state.
Tourism sector which is known as the backbone of our state will get a real boost and these roads will prove to be the boon for this industry. He said that almost each and every household of the state is linked with this industry in one way or the other so making these tunnels functional is the foremost responsibility of the government.
