Srinagar, January 14: After the reports that PDP has toughened its stand asking for a sure implementation of the Agenda of Alliance after the formation coalition government with BJP, the central government has reached out to Mehbooba Mufti.
RP Watal, the Expenditure Secretary of Union Finance Ministry met Mehbooba on Thursday to inform her that the process of releasing of the economic package has been accelerated.
Besides informing her about the release of economic package, Watal also offered condolences to Mehbooba Mufti on the death of her father. The meeting was held at her Lakeview residence in Srinagar.
According to the sources, the visit of RP Watal is considered as BJP’s effort to convince Mehbooba to make an alliance. Mehbooba wants to set deadlines for the implementation of important components of the Agenda of Alliance. However, these were accepted upon by both BJP and PDP when the government formed last year.
The state has been reeling under Governor’s rule in the wake of delay in the government formation after the sudden demise of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
However, he should be succeeded by her daughter and president of PDP, Mehbooba Mufti who has refused to take oath so far because of a number of reasons.
It is expected that decision might be taken after first party meeting of PDP after the death of Mufti Sayeed likely to happen either on Saturday or Sunday and will be chaired by party president Mehbooba Mufti.
