“An act of Cowardice” Omar Abdullah Condemns Shopian Grenade attack
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condemned the grenade attack in J-K’s Shopian town on Monday, while saying that the terrorist attack is an act of “cowardice”.
While responding to a tweet stating that the grenade attack was in contempt of the holy month of Ramzan, Abdullah said, “Agree completely. This terrorist attack is an act of cowardice & should be resoundingly condemned by all”.
Militants hurled a grenade at a police party in Batapora Chowk in Shopian town, which missed them and exploded on the road, said police, while adding that the explosion injured several civilians and policemen.
A girl who was among the injured was said to be in critical condition and rushed to a Srinagar hospital.
Hospital sources in Shopian identified two of the injured policemen as Station House Officer (SHO) Gulzar Ahmad and his security guard. The other injured persons have been shifted to nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Police has initiated investigation in the instant matter.
