Srinagar, January 11: “Girls outshine boy in Class Xth annual board examination.”
Well, this will not be this year’s headline since the trend has been reversed with a boy topping this year’s class Xth annual examination of winter division. For many years the toppers were girls.
The result was declared by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Sunday evening and a student of Radiant Public School, Anantnag and resident of South Kashmir’s Botengoo village, Tabish Manzoor topped the exam by securing 498 marks out of 500.
However, the second and third positions were secured by girl students named Aneesa Haleen of Mallinsion and Hiba Intikhab of Shah-e-Hamdan Memorial School, Shopian. Both secured 491 and 490 marks out of 500, respectively.
The pass percentage calculated for this year is 65.27 percent. A total of 35,430 passed out of 60,819 students who appeared in the examination. There were 29,162 students of government-run schools appeared in the examination out of which 14,716 students were declared successful.
And about the students of Private Schools, 31,657 students appeared and 24,981 were declared successful in the examination held in the month of November last year. Class XII annual examination are also likely to be declared this month.
