Angry CM left the cabinet midway when BJP ministers opposed

In a first major rift within the ruling alliance in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti walked out of a cabinet meeting today over differences with BJP ministers.

The dispute cropped up over the issue of restructuring of Kashmir Police Services or KPS.

Ms Mufti, 57, got furious after BJP ministers including deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh objected to the proposal of KPS restructuring. As she left the meeting midway, BJP ministers convened a meeting in the office of the deputy chief minister.

The differences between the coalition government of PDP and BJP came out in the open. CM Mehbooba Mufti, dissatisfied with the associate partner, boycotted the Cabinet meeting.Mehbooba left the Secretariat and went to her residence. Deputy CM went to meet Mehbooba at her residence.

It may be noted that the Cabinet had some proposed list of transfers of some administrative authorities and police officers.According to the information, in the Cabinet meeting, the proposal of bringing KPS officer equal to IPS officer was brought forward   . BJP ministers, specially Deputy CM opposed this.

He said that to be an IPS officer, one has to qualify the national level competitive examination where as to be KPS it is state level competitive exam.In the favour of proposal it was said that as KPS officers work under adverse conditions, they should be given the facilities equal to IPS.When BJP ministers opposed this, CM Mehbooba suddenly stood up and left the Cabinet Meeting in the mid-way. She left the Secretariat and went straight to her residence.
