Continuing with the drive against smugglers, today, on 11th February 2018, a joint team of the officials of Toll Post Lakhanpur and Police Department Lakhanpur foiled yet another major smuggling bid when they nabbed a vehicle carrying 16 numbers of bovine animals entering into the State. A vehicle bearing Registration No JK02AH-5977 while trying to enter into the State at around 1.00 PM on 11th February 2018 was intercepted by the vigilant staff at Toll Post, Lakhanpur. The offending vehicle, which was consigned by BTS Amritsar, was subjected to physical check when reported at the Toll Post for clearance. As per the documents the vehicle was carrying “Tiles” vide GR No. 1416 dated 09/02/18 issued by M/s Jallandhar Road Transport, Gurdaspur Road, Pathankot-145001. However, on physical checking the vehicle was found carrying 16 numbers of bovine animals. The ever vigilant staff of the Toll Post Lakhanpur in harmonious co-ordination with Police Department Lakhanpur nabbed the vehicle and saved 16 numbers of bovine animals on spot. The police arrested the driver of the vehicle along with accomplice. It is in place to mention here that this is the 3rd detection of bovine smuggling at Toll Post Lakhanpur since October 2017.
The whole operation was conducted by the joint team headed by Excise & Taxation Officers Mr. Sandeep Gupta, Mr. Varinder Singh Pawar, Mr. Ajay Bharti Mr. Suraj Chander Singh and Mr. Sajjad Sofi, SHO Police Station Lakhanpur, Mr. Kulbir Choudhary alongwith Inspectors Mr. Ravinder Singh, Mr. Dheeraj Kumar, Mr. Khalid Javed Manhas and Mr. Veeraj Raina, Sub-Inspector Mr. Surinder Singh Bagal, S.Manvinder Pal Singh, Mr. Vinay Kumar and Excise Guards Mr. Mohd. Shakeel, Mr. Rajesh Kumar and Mr. Sohan Lal and the team of Police Station Lakhanpur under the direct supervision of Mr. Suleman Choudhary, Senior Sudpt. of Police, Kathua and Mr.Vishesh Paul Mahajan, Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur. They appreciated the efforts of the Excise & Police staff in foiling the major bid to smuggle bovine animals and enjoined upon them to work with more zeal and in coordination with other departments/ agencies.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 15/2018 dated 11.02.2018 u/s 188 RPC 3 PC Act has been lodged in Police Station Lakhanpur.
