Srinagar: A man’s body was found in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday, a day after three bullet-riddled bodies of three youth were found at an orchard there.
“The body of 32-year-old Manzoor Ahmad Reshi of Gonipora Kunzar in Baramulla district was recovered today (Tuesday) morning near a nullah (stream) in Kunzar,” a senior police official told Media Sources here. The eye witnesses said he has been strangled to death. His Kangri (Fire pot) was found lying nearby.
As the news spread about his death, the locals rushed to the spot and carried the body in main market Kunzar and protested against the mysterious death of man. The people raised anti-India slogans.
The official said the dead man was reportedly of unsound mind.
It was not immediately clearly how the man died.
Police confirmed that two of the three youth whose bullet-riddled bodies were found on Monday in an apple orchard in Baramulla district were militants.
“Two of the three slain youths have been identified as Amir Ahmad Reshi of Hardshiva (Sopore) and Ashiq Ahmad Wani of Lolipora (Pattan), who were militants belonging to Qayoom Najar-led Lashkar-e-Islami group, a rebel group of the Hizbul Mujahideen.
“The triple murders were a result of a rivalry between two militant groups. Investigations are on in the case,” a senior police officer said.
No separatist group has given a call for protest or shutdown in Kashmir over the triple murders.
