Jammu : India is the third producer of Tobacco Productsand second in consumer in Tobacco product. 7.6% adults (10.9% of males
and 4.1% females) currently consume smokeless tobacco like gutka, khaini, zarda & other chewing tobacco products. 12.0 % of adults (21.6
% of males and 1.5 % of females) Average age at initiation of Tobacoo use is 17.3 years in adults and 17.5 years in males, and 14.9 year in
females. 69.7 percent of adults are exposed to second Hand Smoke. 2. Jammu and Kashmir has high incidence of smoking and J&K is also

resource person for international union for TB and Lung Diseases 3. This workshop has been organized for the Officer of Urban Local Bodies
as a part of awareness of programme and specially regarding the reporting system of COTPA violation as being one of the enforcement
agency. Such programme already held at various places. 4. Sh. Kuldeep Khajuria IAS Director Local Bodies Jammu was the Chief Guest. Who
assured the complete implementation of COTPA and various guideline issued by the Govt. 5. This workshop was attended by Executive Officer of various Municipal Committee Counsel and Notified Area Committee Town Area Committee Dr. NC Prabhaker Thank the participant for sparing their valuable time for attending the workshop. 6. During the workshop objective were explain and stress was made on the implementation of COTPA. Dr. NC Prabhaker explains the various sections of COTPA to the participant and stress the need for cooperation and role of civil society in the Tobacco Control Program. There is a need on the part of administration to take necessary steps for said programme. 7. The event was organized by Dr. NC Prabhakar Resource for International Union TB & Liasion Officer for Voluntary Health Association and was attended by Sh. G. R. Bhagat IAS Retd. Secretary Planning & Sh. Ashutosh Sharma CEO ICDRC. 8. Similar Workshop was also organized for Sub Divisional Police Officer and Station House Officer of Jammu District under the Chairmanship of Sh. Rahul Malik IPS SP South Jammu.
