Baramulla: Police on Wednesday said that arms and ammunition were recovered from a truck returning from Pakistan-administered Kashmir along with goods as part of cross-LoC trade in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A police official said that a truck bearing registration number JK03B 1586 was searched at a naka in Uri area after inputs that arms and ammunition were being smuggled across LoC through some goods trucks.
A Chinese Pistol, two Pistol Magazines, 14 rounds, four AK Magazines, 120 AK rounds and two Chinese grenades were recovered from the truck, he said.
“The ammunition was hidden in a camouflage cavity of the said truck designed particularly for hiding arms and ammunition.”
He alleged that the driver of the truck was supposed to deliver this cache to militants in south Kashmir.
“Case FIR No 07/2017 under sections of 7/25 Arms Act, 13 Unlawful Activities Prevention Act has been registered in Police Station Uri and investigation into the matter is going on,” he added.
