ARMY, AIR FORCE AND NDRF FIRST RESPONDERS

Massive landslides triggered by heavy rains on night of 05th / 06th September 2014 resulting in the village of Punjar Sadda in Panchari area of Udhampur District being worst affected. 53 families are affected and 41 people have reported to have been buried by the landslides. Immediately on receipt of information, a team of Army and NDRF including medical teams were flown in by the Indian Air Force MI-17 helicopter to carryout rescue and relief operations.
10 bodies have been recovered, 08 Columns of Army to include three dozers provided by the civil administration are working round the clock to find the 31 missing persons, as Army inducts more personnel and clears the way for induction of heavy machinery to the area in order to facilitate the relief operations.

300 people have been rescued by the locals in the surrounding area. Relief camp has been set up by the Indian Army.
